Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is additional funding given by the Government to publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils, and close the gap between them and their peers. Eligibility for free school meals is the main measure of deprivation, although the children of serving Armed Forces personnel and children in Care are also defined as Pupil Premium children.

Pupil Premium funding is granted to schools annually. The school receives an amount for each Pupil Premium child, depending on their eligibility category. Details of the Pupil Premium categories can be found by clicking here.

The grant is spent for the purposes of the school in order to raise attainment and progress for Pupil Premium Pupils. Where pupils are exceeding expectations, enrichment/social activities will be provided for groups of Pupil Premium Pupils.

We have a team of staff to ensure that particular pupils achieve their full potential at school. Intervention Teaching Assistants work with Pupil Premium children, on either a 1:1 basis or within small groups, to set targets and promote a course of action to help pupils overcome any barriers to learning in order fulfil their potential.

We also have the weekly 'Ebluey Club', which helps support the practical and emotional needs of children of Armed Forces personnel, especially helping them to maintain contact with parents serving overseas.

To accelerate progress for Pupil Premium pupils, we also build on existing all-school strategies focusing on homework, after school clubs, arts participation, Assessment for Learning and extending ICT applications (Mathletics, iPads). In addition, we run targeted interventions including THRIVE, Nippy Numbers, Sound Discovery, Rainbow Reading, Acceleread, Nessy, Active Literacy, Write Online,1:1 Maths, Garden of Dreams, Play Therapy and Brain Gym.

The Fynamore Pupil Premium Strategy is updated annually. The most recent Pupil Premium Strategy Statement and Review of Expenditure can be accessed by clicking on the links below:
